[A-RP] <Stormwind Covert Accord>

“Vigilance, devotion, bravery and discipline. These are the four virtues of the Covert Accord. Each one of us has chosen to become something more. There is no greater purpose for men and women like us than to protect our lands, our allies and most importantly the king. We wield the instrument which protects the Grand Alliance whilst hiding in the wide open as we strike from the shadows. As a member of the Covert Accord, you pledge your allegiance to live and die honorably for the Kingdom of Stormwind, but the knowledge of your existence will be denied. In our line of work doing what is right, and doing what is necessary is more often than not entirely different things. We do, what we do for the Grand Alliance.”
– SI:7 Unit 17: Covert Accord, Allegiance Pledge

Originally formed in 2011 during the Cataclysm-expansion under the name; The Accord which functioned as an underground intelligence guild based on the real-life ideals of SOE (Special Operations Executive) agency along with the in-game ideals of the Ravenholdt and SAG (Stormwind Assassins Guild). In the MoP (Mist of Pandaria)-expansion in 2012 the guild was on a hiatus, and relaunched in the WoD (Warlords of Draenor)-expansion under the name; Covert Accord with a revamp of being more based on the real-life SOG (Special Operations Group) of the CIA (Central Intelligence Agency) along with the in-game ideals of the SI:7 (Stormwind Intelligence Agency), being a unit of the agency as the 17th Unit under the 4th Finger (the “5th Branch;” the “jack-of-all-traits”) – renamed to the Stormwind Covert Accord due to confusing of whether they were part of the SI:7 or not in the Legion-expansion.

We are organizers, contributors, and sign-ups for both small and large events and campaigns. For the guild, our events include training days in both physical and lectures teaching, cases, missions, and deployments. Collaborating with other guilds and communities we join RP-PvE (Roleplay Player versus Environment) and RP-PvP (Roleplay Player versus Player) campaigns and cross-faction warfare.

In contra to military guilds, we consist of a smaller member count, which makes it easier to organize and does have a larger impact of making every member feel effective. This does also make our events more character developing, instead of “just being a soldier” – when compared to the majority of military-based guilds.

Brief History

The Covert Accord is a foreign intelligence service for the Kingdom of Stormwind, directly under King Anduin Wrynn, administrated by the SI:7, tasked with gathering, processing, and analyzing national security information around Azeroth. The unit’s primary function is to collect, evaluate, and disseminate foreign intelligence to assist the King and Crown in making decisions relating to the kingdom’s national security. It does not make policy–it is an independent source of foreign intelligence information for those who do. They may also engage in covert actions at the King’s direction in accordance. It is an international intelligence agency. It gathers national security information related to foreign factions, non-state actors, corporations, and individuals, and provides this information to the Crown. It also provides intelligence to inform the combat operations of Stormwind’s armed forces. They are also notorious for allegations of engineering coups in regions where rulers are unfriendly towards the Crown, and even infiltration of such regions.

Prior to the Horde’s former warchief Garrosh allegation conspiracy of mana-bombing Theramore Isle organized conspiracists who post a lethal threat to not only the King of Stormwind but to the Grand Alliance as a whole was exposed. The Stormwind Intelligence Agency (better known as the SI:7) needed these conspiracists eliminated at no matter the cost. A new unit was formed under the SI:7–Unit 17, under the name of the Covert Accord. It serves under a public cover known as the 17th Reconnaissance Company. The Covert Accord’s primary function is to expose and ensure of any conspiring organization, which goes against the Kingdom of Stormwind or the Grand Alliance as a whole is redirected or, by worst-case scenario, eliminated.

Q&A (Questions and Answers)

Q: “How do I join the guild?”

A: By scrolling up to the Basic Information and follow the Application Form-link within the Useful Links-dropdown.

Q: “How does promotions function?”

A: They are based on your merit, skills, trust and activity in-character as well as out-of-character.

Q: “Do you have uniforms?”

A: Sort of. We do appreciate our members wearing something not too over the top but yet fitting for an operative and militant, meaning no monster-sized spikes, levitating or glowing stuff! Tabards should be used when on training days and missions within the Kingdom of Stormwind; enlists wears our guild tabard, as operatives and above wears the Stormwind City Tabard from the Dwarven Bunker in the Garrison.

Q: “Did the guild not reform twice by now?”

A: Kind of, but not really. The guild reformed after the Mist of Pandaria-expansion in 2012 after the guild leader holding a break from the game during that said expansion. Once again the guild had a break during the Legion-expansion in 2016 due to the majority of members went raiding which then took the time that was usually used for roleplaying. The guild reformed in the Battle of Azeroth-expansion in 2018.

Q: “Is the guild based within Stormwind City at all times?”

A: No, we will not. We do use the SI:7 Office in Old Town, Stormwind as our base of recruitment and our stand-by place to be closer to the public roleplay community. We share it with other SI:7 based guilds and does not plan to use the office as a headquarter. Other than that, we travel around Azeroth during our events and do spend time at our headquarter between special guild events or campaign preparations.

Q: “What is the difference between the Fingers?”

A: The SI:7 is divided up into five branches. The 1st being the very command of the agency (known as the Thumb). 2nd being assassins; these are super-secret (known as the 1st Finger). 3rd being researchers; item retrievers, et cetera (known as the 2nd Finger). 4rd being spies; yet another super-secret branch (known as the 3rd Finger). At lat the 5th being the “jack-of-all-trades” and recruitment (also known as the 4th Finger). Naturally, the assassin and spy branches are the super-secret agents and operatives of the Stormwind Intelligence, which is what most people relate to SI:7. The research and recruitment branches are more public, but yet with their identity remaining classified.

Q: “Do you accept criminal roleplayers?”

A: To an extent, yes. If the character has served its time and depending on what the conviction entails, they can be proven useful for the Stormwind Intelligence. Criminals tend to be experts in the fields of which the agency performs, at this point, they are the experts. Yet, of course, they also prove themselves to serve the Alliance, and not as a criminal any longer.

Q: “Using an in-character radio, is that not meta-gaming?”

A: Usually when players you custom made channels or guild chat as a radio, where you as the peer have no clue what is said, or even if that said is actually written within those channels, or even if you receive a message on your radio. That is why we use GBRadio (credit: Nasias), which then other guilds have latched on to the addon. The addon itself provides anti-meta gaming, due to when you write in that special generated channel, it will at the same time force you to write the same in /say and post an emote that you are using the radio, as well as when you receive messages it will state an emote about that as well.

SI:7 Guild with their headquarters in Tiragarde Sound?!?

I fail to see the logic here.

That must be a mistake. I’ll check the map. Thanks for the notice!

Always nice to know you’re not SI:7 unless you’re in someone’s friends-circle/guild…

Intelligence unit doesn’t know the difference between Kul Tiras and the Eastern Kingdoms. This can ONLY be a good sign :^)

There was some information from our old post who got copied over, and we had not updated the Glaive Star map. But we have now! Everything is correct now

I do hope they still don’t use walkie talkies to summon like all of their cronies to one spot.

Oh yea we do, we also use massive loudspeakers placed on top of the Cathedral to make announcements too!
