Put in RDF as it was originally please!

Outland was already a themepark expansion and with it the social experience of vanilla classic was already quite deminished.

Lets say you’re level 65 and you play on a mega server. Sure you did some quests with other people, you had some small talk, you might have even found players that think much like you and you added each other to the friendlist.

You want to do Mana Tombs. You look through your friend list invite 1 or 2 of them. Now all you need is a tank and a healer. hmmm who levels as a tank or a healer tho? do they only do dungeons?

Some time later you manage to get a tank and a healer.
The tank speaks in a wretched english and the healer never really says anything at all more than ‘OK’.
Some where in the dungeon a fear doesn’t get interupted and people get feared into another pack, so we wipe and all die.

That is where your social interactions will really start because people can choose to either spirit run or stay dead.

Maybe we have a hard time on a boss, which means more interactions. Or loot drops that is best for 1 and also decent for another, but a big upgrade for 1 that doesnt need half the stats on it. Which again leads to Social Interactions.

Now please tell me in this story if I added RDF to it how much of that social aspect I would miss.

Oh yeah I met some people in the world that I invited for my group and all I did after that was spam every chat channel I had acces to. I even logged with an alt in a city so I could spam /2 too.

So what would rdf take out of all this socialism? Spamming lfm? OH yeah ofcourse it was convincing another team mate to come to the summon stone. Oh but he had to still complete this one little thing almost done, well no biggie we already spammed lfm for half an hour anyway.

So if I instead added rdf there then I would skip spamming chat channels, so they can be used for people actually communicating instead of macro spamming.

I would skip having to go with another player to the summoning stone, which often may lead to huge social interactions which everyone really likes.

And as last I miss out on having to wait so god damn long.

Now where did it go wrong and where did I manage to find more fun out of the game playing with others?

Inside the dungeon or outside the dungeon in all the chat channels spamming my macro.

Something similar happened to me just yesterday but in real life.
I was taking some stuff to the recycle ground next to my flat. It was closed for lunch break for like 10 minutes. Another guy was standing there, waiting and asking whether it’s closed or what’s up with the thing. I didn’t have a phone with me because I thought it would take like 5 mins to dump everything.

Next thing is we started talking and those 10 minutes of waiting flew by pretty quickly. After I finished with my stuff, I took a few minutes to help him with his, since his car was filled.

The first thing that came to my mind when walking home that if those 10 minutes haven’t been there we probably never talked or interacted. Sure, we might never meet again, but we still had an interaction.

Same thing with RDF.
Normally you spend time to create your group and to travel to the dungeon. That time might be spent with some talking, having a little bit of fun while being stuck waiting.
With RDF you just go by yourself, wait for your turn in line, get teleported instantly with your group filled. There is zero chance to communicate before the dungeon.

lol, stay on your Classic ERA

So, try to modify (alias ruin) our game please.

Also :

Yes and we did not have these things until ICC

  • Summoning Stones: To use any Summoning stone, a character must be at least level 15. There is no maximum level to use these meeting stones.
  • Health and Mana Regeneration: These regeneration rates have been increased up to 200% for low level characters. As the character level increases, regeneration rates gradually decrease, until returning to normal rates at level 15.
  • Troll and Orc shaman totems now have their own unique appearance.
  • Nerfed Oculus
  • The distance at which these health bars are visible to players has been increased by 40 yards. (oh wait, isn’t already enabled on TBC ? )
  • The speed of improving the Norfendre reputations has been increased by approximately 30%.

Yes and we did not have these things until ToC

  • Cast duration to summon any ground mount is now 1.5 seconds, down from 3 seconds.
  • The skill Apprentice Rider (75) can now be learned at level 20 for 4 gold. A letter will be sent to characters reaching level 20 to direct them to the riding master.
Companion Rider skill (150) can now be learned at level 40 for 50 gold. A letter will be sent to characters reaching level 40 to send them again to the riding master.
The Expert Rider skill (225) can now be learned at level 60 for 600 gold from Honor Hold or Thrallmar masters. Faction discounts are now applied (Honour Hold for the Alliance, Thrallmar for the Horde). Flight speed at this skill level increased to 150% of run speed from 60%.
Artisan Rider Skill (300): Faction discounts are now applied (Honor Hold or Valor Expedition for the Alliance, Thrallmar or Warsong Offensive for the Horde).
To continue harmonizing the number of mounts available for purchase for each race, a new 60% speed ground mount has been added for night elves, and a new 100% speed ground mount has been added for Forsaken.
  • Object comparisons: by pressing the Shift key. while hovering over an item with the mouse now displays the stat differences from the currently equipped item in the corresponding slot.
  • Portals have been added to Orgrimmar and Stormwind to lead players to the Stairs of Destiny at the Dark Portal.
  • A new zeppelin dock has been added to Thunder Bluffs to allow Horde players easier travel to and from Orgrimmar.
  • The local mail department got tired of walking so far each day to collect mail and decided to install a large number of new mailboxes in Stormwind, Undercity, Darnassus and Orgrimmar.
  • All stackable potions are now stackable by 20.

Yes and we did not have these things until Ulduar

  • All ground mounts can now swim without unhorsing their rider. Flying mounts still cannot swim and dismount their rider when entering water.
  • DOUBLE SPEC
  • Applying a glyph no longer requires being near a Lexicon of Power. The same rules apply for changing glyphs
  • Players no longer need to complete the Nat Pagle, Extreme Angler quest to become Artisan Anglers. The quest rewards you with a special premium fishing rod. Players who have already completed this quest can visit Nat Pagle in Dustwallow Marsh to receive this new fishing rod.

RDF is not a RAID or a DUNGEON, it’s a mecanic/parameter like all i listed before.

You just want a CUSTOM WOTLK, you don’t like this game, go to Classic ERA and stop trying to ruin our game.

Please learn the game a bit before trying to ruin our experience or stay on your Classic ERA and don’t comment.

  1. And somehow you can’t communicate inside the dungeon instead?
  2. That time you spend waiting in line… can’t you communicate with others during that time? Your guild, your realm Discord, etc?

You anti-RDF guys make it sound like the build-up to a dungeon run is such a centerpiece of the social experience that, without it, the whole game would be a barren wasteland. Whereas in fact the game still offers plenty of other social interactions, many of which can be more enjoyable or fulfilling than the time I spend whispering other ppl if they need me for a group or whispering ppl if they’re willing to tank or heal for my run.

Do you play TBC ? Where is the famous Classic social experience ?

All anti-RDF arguments are outdated - WoW Classic / Burning Crusade Classic Discussion - World of Warcraft Forums (blizzard.com)

Because famously, when you’re in the group you don’t spend time with the folks you’re doing instances with and simply cannot talk.

Never said anything about that. not the point I was talking about.

Again, not what I was talking about. My point was that BEFORE the dungeon you have zero chance and time to talk to the people you’re going to play with (if you queue solo, which let’s admit will be the majority).

And again, not what people are using as an argument. It’s funny how every time spamming chats and people is brought up as a counter argument for social interactions, while nobody is claiming it to be that. Let me highlight my main point:

The problem of anti-RDF is they want to live in a dream.
The problem is they don’t know anything about the reality in 2022

Obviously, cause actually socializing during the activity rather than spamming a chat channel for “lf1m tank” runs counter to your narrative.

You can go to your local train station and chat randoms up too and this has been an option for you since train stations got built, what of it? How is that relevant?

LF last for
Hi all
Buff please
15min clean in AoE
Ty all cya

That’s the reality, RDF or not.

What’s more likely?
People talking with each other after spending X minutes waiting for the group to be filled and going to the dungeon or the people just getting instantly put in it already grouped up fully?
I’m not saying that it always happens with the former and never with the latter. I’m saying that which one is more likely.

Same question again, which is more likely?
People talking with each other when they have to wait for the train or when they arrive exactly when the train starts?

Exactly the same odds. 100% the same odds.

What’s more likely ? Being busy because Wotlk you have many things to do at the start so you will shut up and doing your stuff in waiting the group full.
I don’t need to talk in my group, i only need to do my stuff.

Well, that’s just plainly wrong.

Then just play a single player game.

Comparing face to face with anonymous internet fantasy world interactions ?
It is not the same thing.

Imagine that you are taking some stuff to recycly ground every day.

Monday - You were refused because you had the wrong type of trash for recycling

Tuesday - They wont open, eventhough you wrote them 2-3 times, you have everything in order, but they are just ignoring you

Wednesday - You actually managed to get to the recycling ground, but almost everything is full and you managed to throw away 1/4 of trash you got there with ya

Thursday - They are not collecting the type of trash you have

Friday - You get in with all the trash, thinking finally you get rid of that, but no, you are kicked because you do not have enough trash

Saturday - You managed to throw away another few pieces of your trash, but most of it is still on your pick-up

Sunday - You give up trying. Goin for another recycling ground ( another game )

It would be simple to add some kind of tool so you can throw away the trash more often and almost everywhere ?

It is not a good alegory, but thats the social experience if your recycling ground was TBCC.

Oh sorry, because i have nothing to say i don’t have to play the game ?
It’s not The Sims bro wake up, stop being frustrated because we’re not a unicorn full of glitter player like you
World of Warcraft is not only to talk, it’s not Facebook, you talk only if have to do it

At best you get someone going “ffs stupid tanks why dont they play the game” in the build up to completing a group filling.

Once you’ve heard that more than twice it’s seizes being a meaningful social interaction.

Lets go rdf and votekick people out of the dungeon infront of the last boss just for giggles

We wouldn’t need RDF if they implemented the retail group finder tool.

But no, they make some scuffed version of it instead which is pure garbage.

So either make a better tool or bring RDF. Ty blizz

And again, there is no “zero chance to communicate before the dungeon” because you have your guildchat, realm Discord etc. for your communication needs. I’d rather spend my time before a dungeon talking with my guildies than having to spend it building a group of randoms for a puny dungeon, especially at max level (I can concede that it’s different while leveling).
