Outland was already a themepark expansion and with it the social experience of vanilla classic was already quite deminished.
Lets say you’re level 65 and you play on a mega server. Sure you did some quests with other people, you had some small talk, you might have even found players that think much like you and you added each other to the friendlist.
You want to do Mana Tombs. You look through your friend list invite 1 or 2 of them. Now all you need is a tank and a healer. hmmm who levels as a tank or a healer tho? do they only do dungeons?
Some time later you manage to get a tank and a healer.
The tank speaks in a wretched english and the healer never really says anything at all more than ‘OK’.
Some where in the dungeon a fear doesn’t get interupted and people get feared into another pack, so we wipe and all die.
That is where your social interactions will really start because people can choose to either spirit run or stay dead.
Maybe we have a hard time on a boss, which means more interactions. Or loot drops that is best for 1 and also decent for another, but a big upgrade for 1 that doesnt need half the stats on it. Which again leads to Social Interactions.
Now please tell me in this story if I added RDF to it how much of that social aspect I would miss.
Oh yeah I met some people in the world that I invited for my group and all I did after that was spam every chat channel I had acces to. I even logged with an alt in a city so I could spam /2 too.
So what would rdf take out of all this socialism? Spamming lfm? OH yeah ofcourse it was convincing another team mate to come to the summon stone. Oh but he had to still complete this one little thing almost done, well no biggie we already spammed lfm for half an hour anyway.
So if I instead added rdf there then I would skip spamming chat channels, so they can be used for people actually communicating instead of macro spamming.
I would skip having to go with another player to the summoning stone, which often may lead to huge social interactions which everyone really likes.
And as last I miss out on having to wait so god damn long.
Now where did it go wrong and where did I manage to find more fun out of the game playing with others?
Inside the dungeon or outside the dungeon in all the chat channels spamming my macro.
