Reputation reset (and keeps resetting)

Ok, more than 6 months have passed. I believe many players have reported this bug and nothing is done yet. Any response from Blizzard?

Glad I found this topic. The same problem surfaced recently for me with the DF reps:

Given that this seems to be going on for well over half a year, it would be nice to get some form of resolution from Blizzard.

Can I ask why GMs cannot set reputations? Back in the days, say 15 years ago, when you had a problem with the Game like this, the GMs would simply fix it. Whats the purpose of having GMs if not fixing problem people have?

Unfortunately we’ve no updates about potential fixes. As a reminder this isn’t something Customer Support can dictate and it’s up to the devs which issues they decide to prioritize.

A lot of things were different 15 years ago, and having Game Masters manually intervene for every issue is unfortunately not a sustainable option.

You are right, 15 years ago it was all different, but shouldn’t it be already improved?

If such bug persist through expansions what was done to fix this? How after months, simple race change (for which you charge money) can mess long grinded reputation?

How for a such a long time noone there found a solution? Why you simply just can’t add a contract vendor for affected reputations that will allow to grind rep faster and admit that you simply cannot fix that?

Instead you are trying to avoid any form of fixing this same as with guild banks
Please feel free to forward this to these devs you mentioned above.

As the saying goes
 time is money friend.

Blizzard have reduced their workforce dramatically in the name of streamlining (they’re not alone in this), which has resulted in, on the whole, outsourced customer support (who, by their very nature, have less access than Blizzard employees). As far as I can tell their main role now is to deal with account issues rather than anything in-game. For in-game stuff they’re glorified (?) receptionists who are unable to transfer your call.

They also appear to have reduced the number/quality of devs
which means (a) more bugs are getting through and (b) they’re staying for longer/never getting fixed.

Whether they’ll ever improve this situation, I don’t know
but what I do know is it will cost them more money than losing a few subs from annoyed players.

When will be the update?

The issue of the lost reputations persists - with the majority (if not all) affected players being those who had previously used the race change service.
I re-farmed BFA reputations, and I am still waiting for the Dark Talons fix.

At the same time, Blizz has released a flurry of shop bundles targeted at mount and transmog collectors, yet these same collectors face ongoing in-game issues: broken achievements that worked before, lost reputations that go unacknowledged and unfixed.

I don’t mind cosmetic items being available in the shop, but treating collectors this poorly - leaves a bad impression.
Supporting the game shouldn’t feel like a punishment. Why am I afraid to get a race change ticket? Why am I hesitant to get all those shop bundles? I wonder

Off-topic:
As others mentioned, not even 15 years ago, GMs could check and give back lost reputations and help with the achievements. It wasn’t a problem neither it was a “not a sustainable option”. Now, whenever I write to the support, all I hear is: we can’t do this, we can’t do that.
It’s not customer support, but rather a “can’t support”.
I am not targeting specific people here, but Blizz’s policy on this matter: outsourcing, if that occurs, the quality of responses, disconnect with the player base, and at times even disrespect.
If you decide as a company to remove manual work for some issues, they should be prioritized and bundled accordingly by product owners for devs.
Waiting 2-6 years for a fix is not a sustainable option.

It is actually unbelievable nothing has been done still. Nothing to fix the Dark Talons / Obsidian Warders, and nothing to fix older reps that were supposed to have been fixed.

I still don’t have my Order of Embers rep back, and there is an actual mount locked behind that grind. I don’t want to do it again. The time to get it to exalted has been put in, and I even have the achievement to show for it.

Insane that me using a race change could be why this has happened.

So whats the solution, then? This bug has been known for 3/4 of y ear and is still present. When am I going to get my reputations back?

Not fixing the bug from the devs side and also not fixing it on the customer support side for the people affected is not a solution. So how can we get this fixed? Is there any additional information we can provide? I have reported the bug ingame, I have written here, I have had the ingame-ticket to verify the information I have. What actually can be done to get this fixed, what more do I need to provide?

I would like to get a path to a solution thats not just “wait for maybe another 3/4 of a year”. Thats simply not acceptable.

My guild rep to my own personal guild was just wiped again on one of my AH chars and not first time this has happened so can’t use the mobile gbank now unless I do more quests to get the rep back :unamused:

This person reckoned they’d got theirs restored after raising a ticket, however, I wouldn’t hold your breath for that. I suspect they were very lucky because from what I’ve seen, most CS wouldn’t do that.

Its been another month since I gave a detailed description which of my reputations are affected.
19 days since I asked what else I could provide.

At this point, can we please get a statement if this problem is actually gonna be fixed or if we are screwed?

This isn’t a joke problem. This is a serious amount of work that we have put into these reputations.

It’s very sad that Dark Talons (and alliance equivalent) got excluded from the current Winds leveling and reputation boost, especially after being reset for some players (including me) up to three different times, two of which were after the alleged hotfix took place, more than two years ago now.

The thing is this reputation took forever to grind out to Exalted. Because of limited quests and content I wouldn’t be joking saying that it took 2+ months of clearing the map thoroughly bi-weekly at very least.

But no one from the dev team ever noticed this obscure faction, because for some reason this reputation was from its inception by design positioned under the Classic Horde/Alliance factions section, far at the very bottom of the reputation list window and nowhere near other Dragonflight reputation bars.

Back to topic; random reputation resets are still being reported both on US and EU and I’m not only speaking about the new Gallagio raid renown where instead of getting boosted up 9 as a form of compensation for weeks of reputation being in bugged state, many have instead discovered their account being reset to 0.

I am saddened but also glad I found this post. I lost reputation with Order of Embers around when they made more reps account wide. I wrote a ticket about this recently and the indiviual responding told me to submit a bug report as there seemed to be none on this topic. Strange I thought, I know I wrote at least one when it happened. But maybe I remembered wrong. I see now that it must be utter BS. Since we are so many that have lost reputation. Do they even bother to read the reports or the forums? Had no idea the cause was linked to Faction change. Very sad.

Hi everyone!

I have to say I’m glad I’m not alone with this issue. I haven’t played WoW for a year or so, and I got back a few weeks ago to play the new expansion. Since then, my reputation has been reset for many factions from previous expansions (Classic, Burning Crusade, Shadowlands, etc.).

So, I went to the Blizzard forum instead of the WoW forum and they told me something like “this issue arose at the time of the Warbands launch last year, but was quickly resolved, and we haven’t received any new reports since. We are not aware of this issue continuing to persist”.

Therefore, they recommended me to send a bug report within the game, as a ticket wouldn’t help fix the issue. They also said that they couldn’t help me directly, but use my bug report to help developers check if this problem still persists and can be corrected from the root.

That’s all the insight I have on my side. Hope it helps you.

It seems it’s linked to a race change as well.
A friend of mine lost some reputation, but he only ever changed his race. This wouldn’t be surprising, since a faction change is a race change of sorts, too.

I find it puzzling, seeing that a couple of people in this thread and those linked by Ultimutt note that CS claims there are no reports of the reputation reset subject.
I reported it more than once myself.
Even knowing that a GM passed by this issue, saw the number of players affected by it, and remains halfhearted, baffles me.
There is no assurance that it is visible to the corresponding team, that everyone is aware, and that we should chill and wait for the fix. Instead, we are submitting bug reports that don’t reach developers, or trying to prove that this issue is not the one they claim they fixed.
How many more reputations do we need to lose until Blizzy notices it? :dracthyr_sweat:

I just did a quest I never did on my main character and when I finished it my reputation Order of embers have been reseted from exalted to neutral.
It was this quest:

GM cant do nothing, devs are working on it since months and still nothing.

And I also lost Obsidian Warders rep when the patch with warbound rep was up in DF.
