Earlier today, we deployed a WoW Classic hotfix to all regions:
The in-game combat log radius has been fixed, and now only displays information for units that are within 50 yards of the player.
This is closer to the original behavior of WoW 1.12, and should eliminate the ability for addons to extend players’ senses and detect enemy actions at a greater distance than intended.
This fix does not affect text logs that the game outputs for raid parses.
Looking forward to reading the smartasses of these days commenting about how they will manage to manually read the combat log and find the player names and evaluate who is hostile and then /target them…while playing the game also :)))
Very nice!
Ended up using VanasKOS for its name-noting functionality and got to experience how crippling it is to not be the one using Spy-like crap. It’s like a damn superpower.
Glad to see that it’s reduced to a reasonable level.
You still need a player within 50 yards, and you can’t prevent communication between players whenever anyone engages in combat without preventing all communication.
