[H]<Dark Wolves> (est.2007) Casual Raiding, M+, Social Guild

Set up in April 2007, we are an adult (18+) casual raiding/social guild. We are generally active all year round - as with other guilds, we do encounter peaks and troughs, but we don’t rush through raids and then get bored, we don’t only log on for raids, and we don’t shut up shop at the end of an expansion/raid tier.

Please note that we are a single faction guild - we ONLY accept HORDE characters. (although we’re currently trialling with a view to opening up to cross faction)

Originally born on the Lightbringer realm, once we became one of the few remaining guilds to continue raiding, we transferred to Tarren Mill, in 2022.

We are altaholics, we are solo players, we are group players. Some of us focus more on raiding, or M+, or PvP, or achievements, or simply exploring the world.

We aim to be inclusive rather than exclusive and encourage members to try new things, and support them when they do.

We generally raid twice a week on a Wednesday and a Friday evening. Our current raids and times are as follows:

Wednesday: 9pm-11.30pm server time*
Friday: 9.30pm-midnight server time*

We have no attendance requirements for our raids. No rules about having to stick to a “main” for raiding, or having to earn a place, or be in a set rank. If you’re in the guild, want to raid, and fulfil gear requirements, you’re welcome to sign up and join in.

If you’d like to know a little more about how we organise and run raids, check out our resource site.

We occasionally organise additional non-progression, current expansion raids or previous expansion raids at other times.

We run “Mythics Monday”, which are organised, slow, calm, low key runs to help people get used to tactics and, at other times, we have people progressing their keys and pushing higher.

Our guild is home to the author of the well-known M+ website, https://keystone.guru/ … as written about by both Icy Veins and Wowhead - several of our members have helped in the testing and data gathering for that site. This site is also used by Dratnos on Raider.io for The Weekly Route: Encrypted!. Keystone.guru and Raider.io have recently joined forces: https://raider.io/news/538-introducing-the-auto-route-creator

We dislike drama although understand problems can sometimes crop up, but as we are all adults, it is in our best interests to deal with them quickly rather than ignoring them.

Most members have jobs/studies, homes, families and a busy schedule outside of WoW, but also have a whole host of alts, giving us flexibility and a working knowledge of other roles and classes.

Basically, we are a casual, laid back guild full of people that just want to play the game how they want to play it, as long as it isn’t to the detriment of others.

We are happy to review applications from any level character … we base our acceptance of applicants on the information provided on their application form and the person behind the character. We recruit based on who YOU are and if YOU would fit, not your character. Therefore, if you are applying, remember you are applying to join us, you’re there to show how well you will fit into the guild. One-word answers don’t work.

Characters change levels, gear, achievements and even role … it is the person behind the character that brings the fun, knowledge and experience (not necessarily of the game, but life generally :stuck_out_tongue: )

Ideally we are looking for casual members who aren’t solely looking to raid, but are looking for a WoW home where they can, in a friendly and laid back environment, get to try out all aspects of the game.

PLEASE NOTE: if your primary goal is to speed through raid boss encounters, getting your gear to as high a level as possible, as quickly as possible, then we are not your guild. We do not rush through content, we enjoy it with guild mates at a casual pace. Don’t expect us to change to suit you. If you apply to join us, it is on the understanding that you like what is advertised about us, not what you think you can make us into :stuck_out_tongue:

If any of this sounds of interest, and you’re considering applying to join, please visit our website, where you will find more information about us, our guild rules and guidelines, and the application form.

We also have a Discord channel that is open to non-guild members. You can join just for a chat, or to find out more about us.

*please be aware that server time is affected by DST … if you are not, these times WILL change by an hour depending on the time of year!!!

Common questions/comments answered:

  • As long as your character shows on the Armories, you can apply. We are recruiting YOU not your character (although we still need to check your Armories profile  )

  • It doesn’t matter how much or little experience you have - just be up front about it and we’ll get along fine.

  • Yes we use Teamspeak for voice comms in raids. Yes, it still exists. We have our reasons, but your application isn’t the time to suggest we’re old fashioned :stuck_out_tongue:

  • No … we don’t sit chatting in voice chat all day. We use Teamspeak for raids, Discord for all other group content voice comms, but we don’t sit in voice unless we’re actually running group content. Most of us have stuff going on irl, are multitasking and just don’t want to :stuck_out_tongue:

  • Yes - there is a point to the application process  And yes … we do check the information provided, give points for a thorough and honest application, and deduct points for minimal/dishonest/untrue applications. The application process is there for both of us - if we are not a suitable guild for you, it’s best to know before you join

  • We ARE a casual raiding guild. This means: we do not have a set team - every single raid composition is different; we take people along who have very little/no experience; we die to things like standing in fire, falling off the edge - regularly; we have sometimes had one beer too many by the end of the night; we prefer people to raid because of the social aspect, not for the loot (getting loot is a bonus  ). We are not going to change the way we raid just because you’re used to doing it a different way. If the way we raid doesn’t sound attractive to you, and you want to raid, please do not apply.

  • We realise it is now possible to have characters from either faction in a guild, however, from an admin/guild and raid leader point of view there are currently too many issues resulting from trying to deal with cross faction members, so we are open ONLY TO HORDE CHARACTERS.

Currently still open to new members. Raiders, M+ers, socials, or a mix of them all. Looking forward to preparing for Dragonflight.

Just a quick note to say we’re still open to applications from new members.

We are currently preparing for the pre-patch and looking forward to the new expansion. We’ve just managed to get the Heroic Jailer mount for our raiders (which is a good indication to many at how fast - or not - our progression is :stuck_out_tongue: ) and, by now, everyone who wanted the Jelly Mount from Fated raids, has it. This means we’ll probably be slowing down a little, taking a breath and preparing for the fun and games to come in the next few months.

Recruitment is still currently open however, as people come back to the game and interest quickens, we may well close our doors to new members temporarily at some point.

We are now starting to ramp up activity again in preparation for Dragonflight. We’re putting fire retardant materials everywhere and taking up carpets, due to the influx of new Evokers that will no doubt be accidentally burning all sorts of things and we are starting to hunt the primals and, yet again, trying to get addons to work :stuck_out_tongue:

Depending on new applications we get (which are starting to build a bit, now), we may well be closing our application process for a while.

If we sound like we might be the type of guild you’re looking for - consider it carefully, come ask questions on our discord, browse our website, don’t just apply “because you can”. We’re looking for people who are wanting a forever home and who, when they look at us, thinks “wow … that’s it!” … not “well it will do perhaps, although X, Y, Z isn’t ideal for me”.

As we’ve had the inevitable influx of returning and new players for the start of the new expansion, in order to allow new members to “bed in”, and for us to assess raid availability, we have now closed recruitment temporarily.

You’re welcome to join our discord and have a chat with members, perhaps join in with some dungeons/M+ to get a feel for us, prior to applications being opened up once again.

We have now had time for new members to become full members of the pack, and for us to adjust to raiding in the new expansion. We’ve also had time to assess our available for raids.

We have therefore re-opened recruitment on our website.

Our current raiding situation is that we are still working through Normal Vault - working on the final boss currently, but we’re in no rush and happy to run fresh runs every week.

Currently Wednesday raiding is fairly full - there is generally a little bit of wiggle room, although there are also additional people getting geared up so space is a little tight.

Friday raids still have plenty of space.

Wednesday is currently a fresh Normal run - usually clearing 6 bosses.
Friday is currently a continuation of Wednesday.
This will change in a few weeks time, hopefully, when we start into heroic on a Wednesday, and fresh/continuation Normal on a Friday.

We’re looking ideally for more raiders (or people who have little/no raiding experience but would like to give it a go) who main spec dps but are happy to either tank or heal, OR those who main spec heal/tank but are equally happy in the DPS role.

We currently have a tanking rota in place for our three main tanks, so that every tank can get a fair turn in their preferred role. Any additional main tanks would be added to that rota (meaning that, when it wasn’t their turn to tank, they had the option to fill a different role instead).

On paper, we have enough healers, however, as always, reality doesn’t always reflect the theory. Flexibility is key!

Our raids are run on a first come, first served basis, other than any roles that have been given a rota, meaning that those who sign earlier are more likely to get a spot. Irrespective of this, if someone misses one raid, we will do our best to ensure they get into the next.

Having said that, so far, fingers crossed, we’ve not had that situation.

Hey there,

Would you have a spot for this old warrior in your guild?
I’m looking for a guild as yours. I miss doing content with guildies and have some fun meanwhile on discord.

Personally i played warrior since day 1 vanilla till today. Was a main tank for every raid up to ICC and after that I laid down my shield to pick up my 2handers. There’s a thing with tanking that im not eager to tank again tbh.

Hi there - quite possibly  Feel free to join our discord, have a poke around, a chat with us and perhaps join the occasional dungeon if you fancy it.

Unfortunately the Armories aren’t working currently, so I can’t give a firm opinion as to whether or not we’re the type of guild you’re looking for, but joining our discord is a good first step

Updated the original post to give more information and answers to common misconceptions or assumptions.

We are still open to new applications although we don’t have any burning need for any particular class or role.

Our raids currently are at around 25 members, give or take, so we have some wiggle room, but we cannot guarantee anyone a space. We try to get everyone in, and usually manage it, but every raid is different, every raid composition is different, we have members who are still gearing up and others who are gearing up multiple alts.

We are currently running Normals on a Friday (usually getting the majority of bosses cleared), and Heroic on a Wednesday (currently 4/8).

You had me untill teamspeak unfortunately… I don’t feel comfortable that admins can see my IP. skip.

Your choice completely. We’re not for everyone. Not sure why you felt the need to reply that you didn’t plan on applying though … you’ve got a long few days ahead of you if you’re going to do that on all the guild adverts :stuck_out_tongue:

Updated the first post to explain further what we mean by “Casual Raiding” … because we sometimes still get people applying who are hardcore/semi hardcore raiders, insist they want to go more casual, and then realise that their idea of casual is actually not that casual :stuck_out_tongue:

We cater to those who enjoy raiding (amongst other things) as a social pastime - our raids have different compositions each raid, often with people who have little or no experience, so these are not facerolling encounters. Sometimes we can sail through an heroic encounter, other time we fail at normal. All night. We have fun doing it … but people who are used to more focussed, less social groups will not.

The first step in the application process, is being honest with yourself about what you’re looking for

Updated to say that we’re still open to new applicants. We’re no longer running a tanking rota for raids and simply have one tank that raids regularly and others that have either fallen by the wayside, changed main spec or due to work/real life cannot sign up every time, so we’re mainly looking for someone who is equally at home tanking or dpsing. We’re also always on the look out for more dps … currently we’re a bit light on the ranged side, but next week it might be melee we’re missing

We’re also open to applications from those who aren’t bothered about raiding - or perhaps don’t have any experience and would like to give it a go.

Plenty of our members don’t raid, or very rarely do so, and most have been bitten by various bugs - like that altaholic bug, the collector bug, the achievement bug. All pretty much terminal and fairly contagious :stuck_out_tongue:

Forgot to mention previously … we’re now just working on the last boss on heroic. Currently enjoying all the free alt loot in the new area, running progression heroic on a Wednesday and fresh heroics on a Friday.

As far as M+ goes, we still have regular groups being formed (albeit things are slowing down a bit prior to 10.1).

Notwithstanding the above, we still have members working through their transmog collection spreadsheets (no … really!!), adding to their achievements points and collecting more pets and mounts

We’re starting to recruit in anticipation of the new tier and looking for more raiders of all classes and specs.

  • We have a high number of openings for dps, especially ranged.
  • We have a low number of openings for healers (would recommend most healers have an off-spec or dps alt, although not a deal-breaker)
  • We have a high requirement for one or two main-spec tanks (ideally with a dps off-spec or dps alt). Our current main tanks are unable to commit to regular raiding for both nights each week, so we’re looking for some flexibility. We do have one or two dps who have tank off-specs, but would rather have tanks who enjoy tanking as their main spec

For the current raid … we’re currently working on Raszageth Heroic on both our raid nights now until either we get it done, or the next tier arrives - we have high hopes but we’re not going to get all twisted up if we fail. That’s life, right? :stuck_out_tongue:

So It transpires that we have a need for a full time tank and probably at least one part-time tank.

We’re looking for someone who enjoys tanking - that it’s their preferred role (not just at this moment, but always and forever  ) and that they’re happy tanking for fun in a casual raid environment, irrespective of number of boss kills or whether there might be loot for them on that boss/in that raid.

Basically we’re looking for someone who enjoys tanking for a guild group, and views that as reward enough - loot is a bonus. Because at the end of the day although sometimes we will kill a whole bunch of bosses, other nights we will not. Or we’ll be killing bosses that may not have any loot for them.

We got Curve by the skin of our teeth and it was glorious! Of course we can never guarantee this, but we are looking forward to working through the new raid now.

Wednesday raids looks to be getting fairly full, initially (although interest often wanes after the first few weeks), however Friday raids still have a fair amount of space.

It does look like we’ve now got space for more healers, as several of ours have switched to dps.

We’ve gained a couple of tanks with dps off-specs, but still space for at least one more.

To update our progression and our “shopping list” :

Aberrus Normal is pretty much on farm now and we’ve switched to concentrating on Heroic. This means that our Wednesday raids are starting fresh Heroic runs - we are a casual guild, feeling our way a bit, so these are not easy fights for us - we are currently just starting to play with the third boss, Experiments. Friday raids have been switched to fresh Normal runs to help gear up and perhaps get a through alts geared too.

We aren’t just a raiding guild of course - we also still have our “Mythic Monday” where we have mentored “slow n low” M+ runs to help people learn routes and tactics without the pressure of timing. We also have plenty of people throughout the week organising various runs from low no pressure runs to aiming to time 15-20’s.

As far as what we’re looking for … we are a casual guild and welcome all levels of all experience, irrespective of what type of content you enjoy, or would like to try.

Specifically we have a higher priority for a tank - ideally someone who has always enjoyed tanking and it is their “go to role”. Our ideal tank would be someone who is able to raid regularly, on both our raids, is more concerned about enjoying the content with guild mates than whether there is any loot for them on the next boss, is easy going but can also focus, and who has a dps off-spec they’re happy raiding with as well.

I realise that’s probably a fairly tall order - currently we have one tank who just about fits that bill, we have one tank who, due to work, can’t tank regularly, but is solely a tank, and we have a couple of dps who can also tank … but would rather dps :stuck_out_tongue: So it would be great to have someone able to slot into that very specific gap.

Having said all that … simply someone who has a tank off-spec who doesn’t mind filling in that tank role from time to time, would be great :stuck_out_tongue:

Outside of that tank role … we still have space for healers - our raid sizes currently require 5 or 6 healers and we’re sometimes struggling to fill those roles without a dps using a healer off-spec.

Generally most raids also have space for a few more dps.

So what perhaps I should have just said is … “all are welcome”

Updating just to say that we’re currently 8/9 Heroic, taking our time, having fun and keeping our fingers crossed!
