The long version:

Dark Wolves is a Horde guild that was established in April 2007. At that time I was an officer but, over the years, as people have come and gone, I’ve taken over the job of GM.

We are a hybrid “casual raiding/social guild”. For us, this means that some of us raid, some of us don’t.

“Non-raiders” still occasionally organise transmog/achievement runs in old raids, we also generally have a bit of a natter about recent news, updates and anything else that may crop up.

We aim to be inclusive rather than exclusive.

When we do raid, we have fun just being there … a boss kill is a bonus. We do expect people to try their best - by our very nature we often “just scrape through” on fights, so we can’t afford to carry people. But if raiders put in the effort to try their best, that’s all we ask.

Please do not expect us to faceroll encounters, breeze through new instances and new content with only a couple of wipes … this will not happen. We will die. A lot. We also laugh about it, tease each other, discuss tactics and alternative ways of doing things - usually fuelled by plenty of snacks and the occasional glass of something.

We are not a hardcore raiding guild … we are usually well behind the progression of more serious raiding guilds.

We generally raid twice a week on a Wednesday and a Friday evening. Our current raids and times are as follows:

Wednesday & Friday: 9.30pm-midnight server time (please be aware that server time is affected by DST … if you are not, these times WILL change by an hour depending on the time of year!!!)

We occasionally organise additional non-progression, current expansion raids or previous expansion raids at other times. Currently we’ve been organising social raids on a Sunday afternoon for those who are unable to make our usual raids - these raids are also open to non-guild members.

The guild is an adult only guild (18+) that aims to be drama free. We understand that problems can sometimes crop up, but as we are all adults, it is in our best interests to sort out little problems before they become big problems.

Most members have jobs/studies, homes, families and a busy schedule outside of WoW, but also have a whole host of alts, giving us flexibility and a working knowledge of other roles and classes.

Basically, we are a casual, laid back guild full of people that just want to play the game how they want to play it, as long as it isn’t to the detriment of others.

We are happy to review applications from any level character … we base our acceptance of applicants on the information provided on their application form and the person behind the character. We recruit based on who YOU are and if YOU would fit, not your character. Therefore, if you are applying, remember you are applying to join us, you’re there to show how well you will fit into the guild. One-word answers don’t work :stuck_out_tongue:

Characters change levels, gear, achievements and even role … it is the person behind the character that brings the fun, knowledge and experience (not necessarily of the game, but life generally :stuck_out_tongue: )

We had stopped recruitment for some months after raiding started this expansion, due to over-subscription to raids, but this has now settled down somewhat.

Just as an update to this, we are now 8/8 Heroic Uldir. We didn’t get there first, or anywhere near, as we’re a bit more laid back than a lot of the more focussed progression guilds. We’re slowing down over the Christmas period, but are looking forward to stepping foot into the new raid(s).

We are currently specifically looking for one or two additional tanks (ideally someone who enjoys tanking, but also doesn’t mind going dps occasionally too). We are a casual raiding guild and usually try to run with around 4-5 tanks on our roster to ensure we have enough tanks to take into account holidays, illnesses, etc. When we have our full complement of tanks we run a rota so that everyone gets a fair tanking experience. Due to the usual ebb and flow of players, we’re currently down a few :wink:

We are still looking for more tanks with the view to them joining us in the new raid, Battle of Dazar’alor. Ideally they should have a gear level over or pretty close to 370, which is what we’re looking at as a minimum for Normal difficulty level.

We also have space for additional dps.

We are still happy to receive applications from those who either don’t intend to raid, or aren’t at that level yet.

We’re now working our way through BoD - currently 4/9N and thoroughly enjoying it. Still have space for more.

We still have space for more … generally we have space for more dps on a Wednesday, and possible tanks/healers who have a dps off-spec for flexibility; Friday we have more space for any role.

Just about to start on Heroic now … space for more. Also plenty of space for non-raiders - perhaps who just want to chill and do some fishing and have a chat or, if that’s just a bit TOO chill … some dungeons etc :wink:

We’ve cleared Normal, and are currently 4/9 Heroic.

We’re currently looking for those who enjoy tanking, but are also okay with dpsing occasionally. We also have space for additional dps (or healers who don’t mind dpsing occasionally).

We are flexible, and can usually accomodate any role, but if you’re a strict healer or tank only, there may be the odd occasion where we can’t fit you in to a raid.

We’re happy to accept those who want to give raiding a try … and of course those with some experience. We’re also happy to accept those who don’t want to raid (or don’t have time to) and just want somewhere friendly to relax whilst playing.

The guild is still in need of at least one regular tank. Ideally someone who doesn’t mind dpsing occasionally. They don’t need to have experience - we give plenty of “on the job” training :wink: As long as they’re willing to learn and aren’t intending to take things too seriously, whilst still putting some effort in :stuck_out_tongue:

Still looking for additional members, especially raiders, to help fill our raids. Current priorities are tanks>dps>healers, but generally we can make space for anyone :wink:

We’re looking for additional raiders to join us in our venture into the Eternal Palace. Initially Normal (so looking for 400+ ilevel) then moving on to heroic. Specifically looking for tanks - ideally those who are tanks to their core, but can turn their hand to dps when needed. We’re also happy for those who would like to give tanking a go, but just haven’t had the courage to do so in a random pug group, to give us a chance to help them.

We do have space for other roles too … and plenty of space for those who don’t want to raid at all … or perhaps only want to dip their toe in the raiding water occasionally.

We’ve launched ourselves head-on into the Eternal Palace and having great fun … currently 7/8 Normal. Still looking for more members … especially those who would like to raid on a Friday.

We generally have more of a need now for dps, especially for Friday raids, but space available in our Wednesday raids too.

We have space for at least one more tank, especially if they have a dps off-spec.

We currently have a fair number of active healers, so although we have the ability to take more healers, they would need to be aware that sometimes there may be competition for that role. It is recommended that healers have either a dps offspec, or a dps alt :wink:

We have now cleared Normal and are progressing through Heroic, currently 3/8 Heroic. So we’ve swapped things around a little, with Heroic generally happening on a Wednesday (9.30-midnight ST) and Normal generally happening on a Friday (same times). Sometimes fresh runs, sometimes continuations.

From the raiding side of things, we’re still progressing, slowly but surely, now 6/8 Heroic.

oooh … another one down! Didn’t like him much … kept trying to beat us into the ground with scary octo-tentacle thingies! Anyway … onwards and upwards … with “friendly” NPC’s doing their best not to help with the last boss, again. I see a theme there! 7/8 Heroic. Looking for more to keep us partying :wink:

We are now 8/8 Heroic (woohoo!). We currently have space for more guild members … social or raiders, or a little of both :wink:

Looking towards the next patch, and then the next expansion now. We do tend to close recruitment during the start of a new expansion as we don’t want to gain too many new members at once - so now is an ideal time to join :slight_smile:
